Basically l was making a chicken curry today, and my husband was pleasantly surprised that l could make it while l put his tea on!

Most of the stuff needed to make a curry is using basic store-food ingredients.
Its so so simple to make.
Yet, people are so scared of it.
Why?

Why do people think making Indian food is hard

I am an Indian who cooks indian food everyday & I would agree if people say that making indian food is hard because I agree with it too (though its not hard for me since I am used to it now). There r many versions to making an inidan chicken curry. Some recipes r shortcut methods omitting many spices & making it easier. You might have made it the easy way (which is what I do too) but some curries use many more spices & r really really time-consuming to make. So, I guess considering the spices used & the time-consuming recipes, people find making indian food hard.

Why do people think making Indian food is hard

Most people see Indian food requiring a concoction of herbs and spices to make good authentic Indian food.

Sure it is easy to pop open a jar or use packaged mixes, but is that really authentic?

Is Ragu or Progresso jarred sauces real Italian spaghetti sauce? Will someone in Italian clain that is real Italian food?

The same applies to Indian food, Chinese food. any type of food.

Why do people think making Indian food is hard

I did not know people thought that about Indian food, but if they do, they probably are not used to all the flavors and spices of Indian food. I personally sometimes do not have all the spices available, and just buy those foil packets you boil and pour over rice. They sell them in Indian Grocery stores and Trader Joe's. They're amazing. But I personally want to cook more Indian in my kitchen.

Why do people think making Indian food is hard

i have made indian food but to be honest do find it arduous simply due to the number of ingredients one often needs. I am not confident enough to guesstimate the amounts of various spices that are needed so it seems to take a long time measuring everything out

Why do people think making Indian food is hard

I do not know! But a lot of people are intimidate by Indian food. Maybe it is the complex flavors or variety of ingredients. Wish a lot more folks would at least _try_ to make some.
